HCT 32.6% Slightly high monocytes. All other levels within normal range. Weight 14.3lbs Jasper is now on a diet. New Diagnosis: Remission from Feline Leukemia with non-regenerative anemia.
We have been waiting for this result to have confidence that he can live in remission. Because his bone marrow is likely damaged, he may always struggle with anemia. We hope to keep him healthy with the Darbepoetin injections as needed. While FeLife is not technically a cure, it appears to effectively control and reduce the viral load. He will be on FeLife for life, as the virus is now written into his DNA and cannot be eliminated (as per current knowledge).
As of today, Jasper went from Death’s Door to being FeLV negative and presenting in excellent health. I share this in the hopes that others may consider the treatment that we believe helped him.
He currently takes FeLife (twice daily) and the Darbepoetin as needed. I frequently add Imuquin to the food of all the cats. Aside from that, he takes nothing else.
As of 07/30/2023 (Eight weeks since we realized that he couldn't jump up onto the bed) Jasper is now playmates with our 11month old kitten. They chase each other through the house and around the yard. He gets up on all of the high places and is back to running up tree trunks.
We are very grateful to Doctor Clemens and the entire FeLife team, our open-minded veterinarian Dr. Smith and his team at Animal Health Center of East Palatka, and Karen Swinson and Mark Werbil (for love and donating to the Jasper Fund)
